For CLASS, Sazzle reveals the tracks and mixes she’s got on repeat.
1. Maara – Spiral 2 the other side
The track begins with a pulsing bassline and a hypnotic synth melody that immediately draws the listener in as the beat kicks in. As the song progresses, an almost intergalactic voice sample is introduced, echoing words of comfort and self-affirmation over and over again, creating a trance-like state for the listener just before the kick and drum takes off.
2. ・₊˙✧ tom place ✧ miniskirt ✧・゚・
What sets "Miniskirt" apart for me is the use of vocal samples, which are manipulated and processed in various ways to add texture and interest to the mix. The vocal samples range from playful snippets of conversation to distorted, chopped-up fragments of speech that lend a surreal and dreamlike quality to the track.
3. Spray - Ratenplan [Craigie Knowes]
This high-energy techno track features a driving four-on-the-floor kick drum and a pulsing bassline that provide a solid foundation for the track's other elements. The main melody is comprised of a distorted, metallic synth riff that repeats throughout the song, creating a sense of urgency and tension. I love how this track showcases the importance in texture and layering when producing. There is a certain sex appeal to this song that really draws you in.
4. Deep Motions
This track starts with a warm, pulsing synth that gradually builds in intensity and complexity, creating a sense of anticipation and excitement. As the song progresses, layers of intricate percussion and otherworldly sound effects are introduced, adding depth and texture to the hypnotic melody. Throughout the track, Minilogue displays an impressive mastery of sound design, seamlessly blending organic and electronic elements to create a truly unique sonic landscape. The title of the song is fitting, as the track evokes a wide range of emotions, from contemplative introspection to euphoric release.
5. AC2 - Like a Pool Party
The song features a playful and catchy melody composed of a bouncy synth riff that repeats throughout the track. The song's rhythm is driven by a tight, punchy kick drum and various percussive elements, including claps and hi-hats, that give the song a lively and danceable feel. Throughout the song, AC2 displays a mastery of sound design, using a variety of electronic effects and textures to add depth and interest to the mix
