MELBA’S MUST-LISTENS

Melba is a DJ and producer from Newcastle. After being raised on the local makina and clubland sound, her entry to the underground scene at 17 was via jungle and drum and bass. These fast-paced sounds have influenced a lot of what she plays now, which can vary from 130-180bpm, especially drawing for hard hitting 808s. Melba brings a crowd alight as she finesses blends without overcomplicating the EQ’s and filters. She’s always looking for diverse genres, but also representing diverse people.

1. RAW - DJ Sliink & Sinjin Hawke

The sound selection - heavy horns and booming kicks, with the perfect arrangement - gives this tune so much momentum and energy, love this tune so much.

2. EVA808 - You don’t

Such a sick, cool track. Crazy good sounds from the grime pad to the lil arp before the breakdown. Every 16 something changes, in such a classy way without overcomplicating it. Never want the song to end.

3. LOVE - Diamond Life 10

Beautiful, emotional, stripped back jungle, makes me feel like I could be in the 90s in jungle’s hayday dancing at Rage. Such a special tune to me.

4. Debba - Theories

Great from the start but keeps getting better, love the breaks selection in this tune. Feel like it’s really hard to sustain energy like this but Debba has done that pretty effortlessly.
